Fall 2020 Homeschool Program

Each week the children get to know the horses and ride. They participate in horse care and farm chores, speech, circle games and more.

Our classes are fully outdoors and non-sectarian. Classes and times are designed so that children could attend more than one day or session if desired.

Our session for Fall is 9 to 11 weeks, starting the week of September 21st to November 25th or December 17th.

Led by expert trainer Lotte Swauger and Waldorf teacher Sushila Wood.

Classes are $675 for 9 weeks unless otherwise indicated.

Pony Diaries: Horse Lovers Math

Wednesdays 9am-12pm

(ages 8-12)

In addition to riding and participating in horse care and chores, Horse Lover’s Math provides children with an accurate reflection of how math is used in the horse world. In the real world of horses, both metric and imperial measurement systems are still used. Part of educating yourself as a horseperson requires you to become familiar with and fluent in both systems of measurement, much like a person who can speak two languages.

Through mathematical activities that are practical and relevant to their lives, students develop mathematical understanding, problem-solving skills, and related technological skills that they can apply in their daily lives and other curriculum areas, including science, music, and language.

The program is targeted to support Common Core math curriculum standards for Grades 4-6.  However the material is suitable for ages 7 and up.  This is part 1 of 3, designed to be completed over 3 semesters.
